In this week, the CSC165 content is starting to surpass the logic I am learning in Calculus and Philosophy. In particular, conjunctions, disjunctions, unions, and intersections have been clarified for me. It has come up in Calculus, but I did not fully understand how, or where to use them when negating statements. For example, 1. e) in tutorial exercise #2 required that I rewrite "some courses have several prerequisites" in symbols. Before I saw the solution, I had no idea how to do this, but seeing the use of conjunction made me realize how I could use it in other solutions. This allowed for me to quickly solve the rest of the problems, and I really feel like I learned something useful there.
Another helpful tool is the Venn diagrams to illustrate statements, especially for when I have check whether two statements are equivalent. Being able to visualize conjunctions and disjunctions in these diagrams is incredibly useful and has made it much easier to understand statements.
